Govt cuts prices of coronary stents

Dhaka Voice
The government has decided to lower the prices of coronary stents used in the treatment of heart disease in the country.

On Monday, the health ministry issued a circular in this regard, saying the prices for 11 types of stents from three companies have been revised.

Depending on the importing company, the new retail prices of stents have been fixed at a minimum of Tk50,000 and a maximum of Tk1 lakh.

Based on the type of stent, the prices have been reduced by Tk10,000 to Tk50,000.

Taking into account the expert advisory committee’s recommendations, reasonable profit margins for importers, and applicable VAT and duties, the prices of stents imported by three international companies – Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic – have been revised.
